The Lord will fulfil everything in its time

How long, Lord? Will you hide yourself forever? Psalms 89:46

Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.Psalms 69:17

Yes, my beloved! Even today, many of us are troubled without knowing what to do when God’s promises gets delayed in our lives. But, if we can wait patiently for the Lord’s will to come to pass, we can receive a double portion of blessing.

  1. Wait prayerfully and with faith

Joseph had to wait many days to receive the blessings he received in his dreams (Genesis 37:8, 11). We see that he was hated by his own brothers and was sold as slave and finally landed in Egypt in the house of Potiphar. (Genesis 37:36). Even when he was falsely accused of a crime which he never committed and was  thrown in prison, he waited patiently (Genesis 39:9) for the will of the Lord. But, when the Lord’s time finally came, he did not remain as a slave but was elevated to position  next only to the Pharoah to govern the land of Egypt (Genesis 41:40-43).  God blessed his family life in a foreign land (Genesis 41:45, 51, 52). The Lord blessed Joseph by exalting him and  thereby fulfilling his dreams. (Genesis 42:6; 43:26, 28; 44:14). It is good for us to  wait prayerfully and faithfully for God’s time to come, just as Joseph did.

  1. Wait without complaining

Job, the servant of God, who was testified as blameless and upright, the one who feared God and turned away from evil, kept himself from sinning or charging God wrongly,  when he faced the toughest situation of his life. (Job 1:22). In His  time, the Lord blessed him twice as much as he had before. The Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his early days. (Job 42:10-17). It is good that we also wait for His time without complaining.

  1. Wait for God’s glory to be revealed

When Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha and the one whom Jesus loved (John 11:3) was sick, Jesus even after knowing that Lazarus was sick, did not come to heal him. The household of Lazarus  might have expected for Jesus to come and heal him as he was just two miles away from the place Jesus was. Jesus who stayed back, now comes to the place of Lazarus after Lazarus  died. When God’s time came, we see that not only Lazarus was raised back to life for God’s glory  but also  the son of God was glorified (John 11:4; 11:45). Added to that, Jesus blessed the resurrected Lazarus with double fold joy of giving  the grace to dine with Him (John 12:2).

Yes my beloved! Even today let us believe that God is able to bless our  life even if that which we consider is ‘dead’ in our lives (2 Corinthians 1:20). It is good that we wait for God’s time and for His glory to be revealed.

May the Lord bless us and fill this Year with His complete grace.

Amen.
